We are who we are
Text to use as a starting point: is the URL for our website.

The data presented in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, are collected when visitors write comments on the site to aid spam detection.

The Gravatar service may be given an anonymized string created from your email address (also known as a hash) to see if you are using it. The privacy policy for the Gravatar service can be found here: Your profile image is shown to the public in the context of your comment after it has been approved.

Suggested text: If you’re going to post photographs to the website, make sure they don’t have embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Any location data from photographs on the website can be downloaded and extracted by website visitors.

If you post a comment on our website, you can choose to have your name, email address, and website saved in cookies. These are for your convenience so you don’t have to enter your information again when you post another comment. This batch of cookies will last for a year.

We will set a temporary cookie if you visit our login page to see if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie includes no personal information and is deleted when your browser is closed.

We’ll set up many cookies when you log in to save your login information and screen display preferences. Cookies for login and screen options last for two days and a year, respectively. Your login will be saved for two weeks if you choose “Remember Me.” The login cookies will be deleted if you log out of your account.

An additional cookie will be saved in your browser whenever you update or publish an article. This cookie contains no personal information and only shows the post ID of the article you just updated. It has a one-day expiration date.

Content from other websites that has been embedded

Text to use: Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites functions just as if the visitor had actually visited the other website.

These websites may collect information about you, use cookies, embed extra third-party tracking, and track your interactions with embedded content, including tracking your interactions with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

To whom do we share your information?

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the email that you get.

How long do we keep your information?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its information are saved eternally. This is so that any subsequent comments will be recognized and approved automatically rather than being held in a moderation queue.

We also retain the personal information that users supply in their user profiles if they register on our website (if any). At any time, any user can view, edit, or delete their personal information (except they cannot change their username). The information can also be viewed and edited by website administrators.

What rights do you have over your personal information?

You can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us, if you have an account on this site or have left comments. You can also ask us to delete any personal information we have about you. This excludes any information that we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons.

Where do we send your information?

Suggested text: Automated spam detection services may be used to screen visitor comments.
